Fuse #27 in the Underhood Fuseblock supplies power to the "Rear Compartment Lid Release Actuator."

Does your car have Keyless Entry? If so can you release the trunk lid using the button on the remote?

In order for the yellow button inside the glovebox to work the car has to be in "Park". Power comes from Fuse 27 under the hood through the Park Neutral Switch to the button in the glovebox to the solenoid in the trunk.

If the trunk opens with the remote then it's either a bad switch or a wiring problem. If it doesn't open with the remote then I would guess it's a bad solenoid or a sticky mechanism. The release on my '02 does not work as well as the one on my '98. Sometimes I have to press the yellow button more than once to get the trunk to pop.

    gotcha,

yes the trunk will open with remote and key, just one of those little quirks that peaks my interest when it does not work.

by the way if i work on the wifes car it gets me off the honey-do list for a spell.(neverending honey-do list)

I have the same problem. No trunk release with key fob or yellow trunk release button. The reverse light do not work. I checked fuse 27 its good, even put a new one in no help. Now what?

I just got done removing every fuse in the glove box and under the hood. All are good. Maybe relay? Still no backup lights, trunk release or door lock when put in gear. Any ideas?

I pulled the motor on my car and I had no where to put my new trans so for the mean time I put my new trans in the trunk and now it won't open! I checked the fuses and everything is good. When I sit in the drivers seat I can hear something clicking but the acctuator isn't making any noise everything else works. The guy I bough it off put a cap over the key hole it's deffinitely not pressed on. Any ideas???
    Thanks, Bryan

Have some one push down on the trunk when you are hitting the button.

Not really trying to take out all my seats and pull the trans out of the driver or passenger door if I have to last resort I will. The accuator isn't making any noise so pushing on the trunk won't help
