Very carefully.
Actually there is quite a bit involved in doing it...as you have to drop the entire cradle out from underneath the car.
^^^HaHa what he said!! I wouldnt try from the bottom unless i had a lift. ill stick with pulling the engine then tranny or both at the same time from the top.
Not to pee in your Wheaties, blue, but I prefer the top-pull method. It gives one a chance to clean the engine while it's out of the car and the bay while it's empty.
It just depends on what equipment you have to work with. If you have a set of tall jack stands and an engine support of some sort, then dropping it out of the bottom is the way to go.
But, if you have a cherry-picker and an engine stand, pulling the engine first, out the top, will work.
My best bit of advice: Beware of the B**** bolt. It's the one bolt holding the engine and tranny together that is facing the opposite direction as the rest. The best way to get to it is with a crap-ton of extensions through the passenger wheel well along the top of the 'tail' shaft of the tranny.
