And about everything with the red arrowhead on the front bumper apparently...
Makes me sad to think about the G8 i hope it gets rebadged as something else that car doesnt deserve to die. Among the other flops im gonna go ahead and say the new/old Camaro just because its taken what over 4 years to make it to the showrooms, Well lol the ones that are still open!!!
Man, I love the G8. In a couple years I was thinking about trading in my gp for one (it has 70k thousand miles) and about the camaro, man o man the camaro. When the transformers movie came out and bumblebee came back as the new camaro the whole freggin theatre went nuts!!!! I was one of them. I jumped out my seat like whooooooooo!!!! Omg that car is sooooo beautiful. Just thinking about it, sorry I need like 10 mins alone. J/k. I told a friend of mine (a family guy moment lol) I said I was gonna go up 2 chevy, and ask the sales person if I can sit in the camaro, ill get in and the sales guy will turn his head for 1 second (literally) and when he looks back at me ill be butt naked rubbing the dash board with my hand ever so gently and whispering sweet nothings in the drivers rear view morror. Lol. I watch that cartoon entirely too much. My friend sais that almost like a peter from family guy moment. Lol
I talked to a dealer who said they were going to re-badge the g8 as a caprice and include a law enforcement trim. Still, he said a lot of dealerships are quite upset about Pontiac getting the axe.
im surprised they didnt get rid of the ugly ass tennis shoe looking Avalanche. that things just about as ugly as the Aztek was
GM just keeps making mistake after mistake it seems, and this ain't nothing new. Let's start with Corvair and go through Vega, Fiero, Aztek. Who are they marketing too these days? Camaro is gorgeous, but way late to the party and FAT. No all wheel drive anything (BTW the 97 - 03 GP should have been AWD, what an incredible car it could have been). I really don't like too much they make now, it's either ugly, underpowered or too expensive or all of the above.
The XLR wasn't a flop, just a tad overpriced.
XLR is/was an incredible car, but it fit one of my criteria for being a general flop - High Price$$$= Low Sales #'s. Not good. Solstice was/is a good car, but it was 10 years too late. The proven hotselling equivilant platform is the Mazda Miata, but GM just missed the boat. If those two cars were introduced at the same time, Solstice would have won hands down. Superior car, superior styling, way too late. and now it's gone too. Was it the last pontiac with a real name? (ie G3,G5,G6,G8, what the hell were the marketing folks thinking getting rid of all the iconic Pontiac names that EVERONE new and identified with? G8 should have been either Grand Prix, Tempest, Lemans or Boneville. GTO should have been offered in 2 and 4 door configuration with everything from an NA 3.8 (Lemans?) 3.8 SC (Tempest) to the LS motors (GTO). They even make that platform in a wagon and a ute. GM ****ed up BIG with that, what a wasted opportunity.
Solstice = Flop
G3, G5, G6 = Flop
SSR = Flop
XLR = Flop
STS-V = Flop
Torrent = Flop
GMC Envoy XUV = Flop
Camaro - Too late, overweight, styling got old for me quick, so thats a Flop.
The only new GM cars worth buying are the LaCrosse, the new Regal or Regal GS, and the CTS-V. They need to work on everything else, and I think that will come with time.
And a lot of people were crying about the killing of Pontiac...Yeah it was GM's fault for letting the brand get as bad as it was. I mean, a G3, G5, G6 and Torrent do NOT deserve a Pontiac Logo. The way Pontiac stood, with one useful and deserving model out of 5, Pontiac deserved to die. As far as the G8, it didnt die, its just a Holden Commodore. GM will probably re badge it when they feel like it...hopefully sooner than later.

even the regal GS is kinda underpowered
that'd be ratarded
all anything needs is an LS9 haha. it just seems like gm doesn't want to go to new platforms. is anything they have AWD? you see what they can do with performance if they put their mind to it, they just don't want to get into some non-traditional platforms. they'll never have a camaro that isn't RWD, they'll never have a performance-inspired car that isn't a V8, and they'll never take a chance on making a sedan stand out. i'd like to see them do more with boosting personally. the gtp/gxp stuff is staying popular with a blown V6, i'd love a cobalt with a turbo I4. take a leaf out of ford's book and make a turbo V6 muscle car. call it a regal GNX... hey wait...
GM could learn from any car brand out there making a profit.
GM= cheap parts made in Mexico, assembled in Canada, rusting in your driveway.
Ford could use more than one sports car w/ a kajillion variations ...
In the later years pontiac sedans were basically buicks or chevys rebadged for the younger generations so I'm not surprised the brand is gone, one had to go and it wasn't going to be buick or chevy. If anything those new buicks seem to truly appeal to me, hell even newer cadillac and lincoln (for the ford guys) cars seem to have sex appeal to my younger generation. I wish they learned to make building high quality parts the top priority, although they along with all other companies have stepped that up this past decade.
