Just Installed my DHP PCM tonight and it ran fine for about 30 min. I drove it and everything seems to have been running fine, untill It started getting hot and then I noticed that the fans are not kicking on. I have a stock t stat, could that be why? Should I install the old PCM back for now, there isnt any engine lights coming on.

Well I went and changed it back to the original pcm and now it runs fine, I personally think I should take out the iridium's and put autolite 104's in and change to a 180 t-stat instead of the stock 196. Someone give me a opinion. think that it it would run right with that? Also when the car is shut off the fans don't come on to cool it and the car will be really hot when I shut it off, almost in the red.

Well that's kinda weird. With that pcm ur fans should come on much earlier. I just put a pcm in mine. I have the 180 tstat also and it never gets over 190 now. Even in traffic. Spark plugs shouldn't make a difference. Sucks man. I'm not big on computer stuff but I've heard of people runnin a pcm on their car with no bolt ons. So it should work

U might look at other vooling system stuff like ur water pump or check to make sure ur fans r workin properly. Fuses relays that sorta stuff

Stock is 195*
Switch to a 180*. Put the PCM back in. Spark plugs have no way an effect on your engine temp. Afterwards if that don't work then go get your coolant flushed. You might have a clog somewhere who knows.

X2^. After I put my 180 in and my pcm it stays cool all day. Sometimes flushin ur coolant can help a lot. Besides it couldn't hurt to do it anyway.

I wont have to flush my coolant because I already did like a month ago, Im pretty sure its just my t-stat.

Where did you get the dhp pcm from? Do you know what all has been done to it? Or what year it was originally for?
Usually like they said above, the pcm will kick the fans on when the temp. gets 180 or above. They program the pcm to do this because they think you have a 180 tstat in there. If the fans aren't kicking on I would look into that issue, it cant be a fuse if they kick in with a stock pcm.
Did you say when you had the pcm in there the CEL would come on?

Well the fans kick in and worked when I first put it in for about 30 minutes and then they finally stoped working at all. Its like the t-stat reacted with the new PCM and stuck. The fans also wouldn't kick on when engine was shut off. The PCM has codes deleted for a deleted cat, but I have my censor still plugged up I just wanted it deleted because I was planning on running headers and a straight pipe, the only thing i have done is res delete, could where its still plugged up be messing with it.

If the fans work correctly when your stock PCM is in the car, it has to be something with the DHP PCM. I dont know if this is possible, but maybe a pin on the DHP PCM is messed up or something like that and not connecting properly and it is the connection that has to do with engine cooling. It could be simple a programming error. If the car is getting into the red, that is pretty damn hot and I would not put it back in. The fans should run for 2 minutes after key turnoff. Where did you get the PCM? I dont think DHP is even doing PCMs anymore.

Installed the 180 t-stat and It didnt do Shi*t still over heats, The PCM was used out of a 01 GTP and mine is a 98 but I was told it would work.

I would say the turn on points for the fan are messed up in the pcm.

Well honestly I think that's ur problem dude. The one I got was for an 03. I think they r year specific man. Not sure exactly but I think so. Anyone know for sure?

The year is just programed in with the vin for inspection purposes I believe. So it should not affect performance at all.

Case learn has nothing to do with Cooling Fan Cut-on Temp.
Where did you get this PCM? Also, do you know someone with a tuner nearby? If so, get them to edit your cooling fan on temp. I run a 180 and mine turn on at 186.

3800 performance still sells dhp pcms....has anyone bought one from there?
