Hello,
I am new to this forum but wish I had found it about two weeks ago. My LIM needed to be replaced and I didn't really have much idea what it would have taken to replace it, so I paid a shop $450 to do it, along with flush and fill the coolant and replace the oil & use oil system cleaner. After reading this site for a few days, I think I would have tackled it myself.
What I also found reading on here is that the LIM is a common failure in Grand Prix's. Another part I need to replace (or perhaps clean?) is the MAF sensor (I will do that myself) which also seems to be common. A third one, which I have not had a problem with yet, is the plastic coolant elbows on the water pump. I am wondering what other parts I should keep an eye on because they are notorious for failure.
Also, I would like a good repair manual for this car, are the dealer manuals the best? The Haynes / Chilton manuals appear to not cover the SC engines.
I drive a stock '02 GTP.
