i have been having an issue lately when stepping on gas or braking i am hearing a clunking noise under passenger side around feet area, i changed the engine mount(was bad.. leaked everywhere)/dogbones/and trans mount but the noise still is continuing.

i got under there and seen the subframe mounts in that area

here is the driver side and passenger side of the mounts on subframe the passenger side has all that hydraulic fluid from old Engine mount
Driver Side Imgur links Passenger Side

im assuming these are to be changed for that "Clunk noise" what is best options to get this done if this is the case? take subframe off completely? i tried getting it off with it up and it wasnt come out easy on passenger side

Before jumping into subframe mounts, have you looked at the lower control arms? These are known to "clunk" when the bushings get worn. Easy change since you can buy the entire arm with ball joint installed.

If it is indeed a subframe mount, you should be able to drop the rear of the cradle and sneak them out. Search the forum here and see what you can find. If you can't find anything on it let us know. Sometimes the search sucks, lol.

I'm going to be replacing my rear ones while the engine is out so I'd like to see how this one goes.

Check to see if your subframe bolts are tight. The bushings are fine.

I'd have to write a small novel here to explain. I do have pics but not a site to host them.

The oil soaked rubber that is peeling off is inconsequential.

Just lay down and reach under the car with an 18mm and tighten the bolts, you'll see.
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

Trans shop left mine loose and one rear eventually fell out before I figured it out. I was going to replace mounts also but found upon further inspection that oh... despite the oil soaking the originals are in fine shape. Just the lip of the metal shell rusts and that rubber around it comes loose but the meaty mount part is fine. Not worth the hassle to replace.

I say tighten them with car on ground because if you were to jack it up by the front of subframe that may compress the fronts more and be misleading. Theres a sleeve in the bushings so tight is tight but well on the ground is easiest.

So I'm looking at them right now and they all tight...

Now I'm wondering if it's the damn engine mount I just put in and the fluid that I thought was from the old one still coming out is not from the old one I just never had a way to properly get up there with a pressure washer to clean it all out so I thought it was all the old fluid

Does anybody make another engine mount that's not hydraulic still I looked at ZZP and they don't sell that anymore do you guys know of any other one?

oooh well dam maybe they are loose in the back they where not that tight tyty

could it have been that Hydraulic fluid from engine mount getting in there and it being loose already causing it to start moving then???

The fluid could be soaking into the subframe mount and may have loosened up the mount a bit. I could maybe see that if the bolt is loose combined with fluid that got between all the mount points. May cause it to shift a little more than it should.

I know they can take a lot of abuse but at a certain age all things rubber degrade, hence why I'm changing mine. After 24yrs., years of on and off leaks and 500K+ miles on them I'm sure they could use a refresh.

Do not drive it with the oil pressure sending unit leaking! That stupid thing has drained pans in the past and cost engines. I went through 3 and said f that. Installed my Autometer Sport Comp electric sending unit/gauge in my A-pillar pod and never looked back. No more oil leaks from that POS and know exactly what my pressure is at all times.

not sure what "Autometer Sport Comp electric sending unit/gauge in my A-pillar pod" is but the sensor is not leaking bad so its fine for now still going to get it changed... but i cant get in there to loosen it i dont have space so im just going to get someone else to go in there its pissing me off way to much.. but my major leak is coming from the plastic elbows for coolant.. after i seen that the brace for engine mount the top where kinda like bowl is full of coolant.. i traced it back... ooo and now thermostat stuck open.. ffs.. this car i hate this car but i love it at the same time.... subframe was just loose and now got that all sorted..
