I bought a 2006 Grand Prix GT from auction with hail damage. Drove it and found had some other issues, no brakes from no fluid, leaking rack and just wandering and not sold on the road. I replaced the tie rod ends and a bad steering rack bushing and that made things better but still it had some floating sometimes like the wheel can go back and forth some without the steering moving sometimes.

I then replaced the rack thinking maybe something in the teeth since when I flushed it it was leaking it needed to be done and I got a reman rack.

Got that all in and still some weird feeling. The intermediate shaft I read doesn't really fail just clunk and I greased that up.

I do need an aligment for sure and somehow the camber on the back driver side is in at the top way too much. I loosened the strut bolts and could move it a tiny but but its way out of whack , but when I check the stuff that would impact that nothing looks out of place. I am wondering maybe a bad bearing itself or of that can be aligned.

Anything else to try and check?

being you changed the tie rods, then changed the rack. yes its time to hit the alignment shop. most of them shops will push and pull to test parts before doing the alignment because if theres a bad part, they dont want to be blamed for a piss poor alignment. so they will tell you you need a part if needed. make sure to tell them you just did a rack install. then they know the back story some.

rear suspension control arms, struts, and all that good stuff that keep the rear tires in line.
