Just would like to start by saying Hello! and thanks for letting me join the gang. First time user and poster so here we go.

Vehicle at hand is a new to me 2007 GP GT SE 3.8 Supercharged, when I got the car about 6 months ago I found out once I got it home and removed the wheels I was in for a treat. My findings were, the cv axle nuts were so rusted and the threads before the nut were rusted completely off. LF wheel bearing was shot, LCA bushings shot and some outer tie rod play. All in all its a 2007 and never had any love so I'm here to "resurrect" it. As a previous auto tech this is all very basic repair work and compared to my duramax the cost is fractional. I go ahead and order all my parts from a reputable ACDELCO distributor, Frt and RR Monroe OESpectrum struts, LCA's with ball joints, Inner and Outer Tie Rods, Frt and RR Brake pads/Rotors and Frt complete Calipers, Frt wheel bearings and 1 LR as it was noisy, cv axles and new engine/trans mounts, Swaybar links and bushing.

Find a good day to do the work and everything went very smooth surprisingly. First thing I notice is this substantial clunkish/clickish type of noise when going from D to R and back, sometimes worse than other times but can make it consistently do it when applying the brake, go into gear and a tiny amount of rpms will make the noise. After finally getting a video of it and checking it over and over, I found it was the axle splines rotating within the wheel hubs....which are all new. I retorque the nut and even apply a little more than recommended torque but the noise is still there.

Now I must admit, the first set of axles and hubs were a company called GSP (they swore they haven't ever had issues with the brand and price was right). Once bringing this issue up they had no problem to upgrade me to delco axles and hubs for no charge. FYI Delco axles are actually GSP tagged in the box but was told they are built with "better spec" whatever that means haha. At the counter I compared and confirmed the Delco Gold replacement hub did fit tighter on the splines of both the Delco and GSP axles, although did seem there was still a little play which one would figure once the nut it torqued it wouldn't move. First 500 kms after replacing the parts it felt great, could load up both D and R with brake on and no noise, felt great! Well obviously things don't work out that easy. Noise came back yesterday after a good long drive. I can hear it coming from the drivers side but haven't confirmed anything yet. I'm just at a loss and have no clue what the heck to do. Searching and searching online came up with nothing till today, search Volvo axle ping and that is the exact issue. I obviously know that aftermarket parts are the issue here and its driving me up the wall haha Anyone experience this or have any input for me? I'm all ears except for jb welding the axle splines hahaha.

Hope this link works, listen and watch carefully and will see what I'm talking about.

    Your link works.

I've always run SKF or Timken front hubs and Napa gold CV axles and never had an issue. Unless there is something worn in the trans. I'm not sure what else would cause that.

In the past we were a Napa AutoPro so used lots of SKF/Napa bearings without ever an issue, and I also did go into Napa and have them bring out an axle and hub but fit pretty much the same on the counter as my delco gold/ delco axle fitment, now possibly would be a difference when torqued down but hard to say.

Definitely not coming from the trans as you can see in the video that the hub is solid and the axle shifts inside of it which causes the noise, it's so fractional but enough to be loud inside the cab.
