So the trans is doing all sorts of weird torque converter stuff. Time to put in the one from the donor car. I haven't done a trans swap since '02. Anybody have any advice to make it easier for me, other than general stuff? I've got Jack stands and a cherry picker...

A long extension to get to the backwards bolt on the trans bracket. A Trans-go shift kit would be good insurance to help the replacement live longer since you'll have the pan off to change the fluid/filter anyways. If you really want to get into it install an updated 4th clutch hub so you lower the risk of loosing overdrive from stripped splines.

Since the trans will be out personally I would check the bolts on the rear cover of the engine since they often are only finger tight and can cause leaks that can only be addressed by pulling the trans. Cheap insurance. There is info on here regarding that issue.

If your engine and trans mounts are old/questionable now would be the perfect time to replace those as well.

While the trans is out check where all the steel brake and fuel lines come up the drivers side of the firewall. I always remove the insulation from around the lines so they don't sit against water soaked insulation and rot out 'cause they're a b*tch to get to once the drivetrain is back in place. Been there, done that, lol...

Make sure you have that piece (forget it's name) that is used with engine hoist that lets you angle the engine/trans while lifting or dropping from the bay. It's a Time saver considering it's all a matter of inches and tight fit!

I have pics using and not using it but would have to dig them up...

While the engine and trans is apart, might as well do the rear seal & cover gaskets lol.
