Thread: Blower motor

Well, after reading some blower motor threads, nothing really seemed like my problem.

When I got the car last year I noticed the blower motor was squeaking when on. So I replaced it about 6 months ago.

Today, I was making several stops and at one of them it stopped working completely. I've done some preliminary diagnostics, and found that there's power and ground at the motor and the FSM trouble tree indicates to replace the motor.

I measured the fan motor resistance - 0.1 ohms - a dead short. When I unplugged it and tested it there was no power. As it turns out, it seems like there's protection in the blower control module for a dead short, as I heard a click when plugging in the motor. Cycling the key resets it. Who knew?

Has anyone else seen this or know roughly what resistance should be through the windings? It should be more than 0.1 ohms, I'm sure of that.

SHould be a few ohms at least. Look on EBAY. I bought a Delphi motor for my daughter's G6 for $29. Should be some deals for oem quality blower motors on there.

Yep, I just got the new one, it's 6 ohms. Old motor fooked.
