low tapping noise at idle but not in park

Hello - new to the forum. I have a 2007 GP with 305k miles and has been just a wonderful vehicle Recently i started hearing a low tapping noise from what sounds like drivers side. It's not very loud and i have to turn the radio down or off to really hear it well. Also, I don't hear it when the car is in park or in neutral. only at idle. The car doesn't make any knocking noise while driving and pick up is smooth. I recently had a trans rebuild (new torque converter as part of it) but i heard the tapping noise before the rebuild. Just want to make sure i mention the trans rebuild here. Any ideas what this might be? I know it could be one of many things. Many thanks for any help.

So the sound is only at idle, in gear? I'd guess header/exhaust leak. In gear your idle is lowest, and vacuum is highest so more likely to hear a small exhaust leak.
