    Hi all:

I have a 2003 Regal GS. I just replaced all 4 struts and as soon as I put it back together and went to start it the service vehicle and ABS lights came on (they came on almost instantly, it didn't seem like the car even needed to think about it).

I didn't notice anything out of the ordinary while changing the struts, but I assume I must have pinched a wire or cracked a sensor while pounding on things. I have a generic scan tool, but it does not read body codes. I just picked up a Hayne's manual hoping for some info on how to check the sensors, but it basically says if there are ABS issues to see a dealer or service shop (a big help that was...).

Any ideas what could have gone wrong, and how or what I should check to figure out what is wrong?

you either pulled a abs plug off or broke a wire to the hub. could be any of the 4 corners.

Check to be sure you didn't crush either of the front ABS harness wires between the ball joint and knuckle. I've seen this happen quite a few times. The loom from the hub will tuck itself underneath and then when you let the car down off the jack it gets smushed.

Thank you for the thoughts. I will pull the wheels and double check everything tonight. I didn't disconnect the ball joints so I didn't think the wires moved, but worth checking anyway.

hes not talking about the knuckles being removed, when you took the struts off the lca's drop, this is when the wires could be damaged or get its plug pulled out or pinch the wires in the ball joint when dropped to the ground after the install.

you'll have to pull each wheel again and do some inspecting.

That's what I figured. I will check everything over and report back what I find.

Take it to a shop or find somebody that can scan the ABS; this will help pinpoint the location of the problem.

Ok, so finally started pulling wheels and checking sensors. Found one that was open and not reading any resistance or producing a signal. No obvious signs of damage, but I must have hit it or did something while working around it and broke it internally. All the other sensors showed some resistance and produced voltage when spun. Ordering a new wheel bearing/sensor now...

Don't pinch the wire when you install the new bearing. Makes a good bearing bad real fast.

Yes it does, and apparently I was not careful enough last time so I will be more careful this time...
