    Hey guys,

    So, I just picked up an immaculate 1998 Daytona 500 Grand Prix Supercharged with 92k on the clock and I am going over it doing little things. The top of both doors on this car have a weatherstrip / rubber molding that runs the entire length of the top of the window frame and it has a little wing on it that makes contact with the painted portion of the window frame on the car when the doors are shut, acting I guess as a little air seal. It is not what keeps water out as the main door weather stripping is beneath this and attached to the car, not the door......but the little rubber wing on the top of my door molding strip is torn off for about the last 8 inches of the top of the door. (door hand end of the door where people would put their hands over the years to shut the door by the top frame). I am wondering what this piece was called as I would like to find new material and replace it. There are tons of "weather strips" out there and matching this up would be a lot easier if I knew what GM called it and knew were to buy it. If anyone knows, please let me know. Thanks!

    those are not exactly cheap. i forget what they are called, but to remove them. open the door pull the plastic cap and remove the screw, then pop the inside triangle trim and loosen the three mirror nuts, go back to the trim, lift the side where the screw was like 2 inches, then pull back on it.

    it locks in with some slide i clips. the mirror holds it tight tot he door, why you need to loosen it up.

    Thanks for the information. My biggest concern is finding them, I am not really worried about the cost. I have done tons of trim on all my cars over the years so I can no doubt do it. I need to find what they are called and find the parts. I thought about going to the Chevrolet dealer and seeing if they have any diagrams or information in the computer.

    Supposedly GMPARTSDIRECT.COM has it, it is called the reveal moulding and it is 90 bucks but then then charge 35 for shipping. What a rip off. I can find it, now that I know what it is, on ebay....but not for less than about 135.00 (for ONE door). I stopped by the local huge Chevy dealer here in town yesterday and they looked it up...they said they can still get it from Lansing Michigan but it is about 150/side from the dealer. Amazing what a piece of rubber can cost. I'm wondering if I can get creative and somehow fix mine.....or find a junk yard Grand Prix.

    Good luck. Every GP I've seen in the yard has them in the same shape usually, but you may get lucky. Much as I hate to say it sometimes I just cut my losses and bite the bullet on things like this. It is a lot for a "piece of rubber", but it's something that is not made aftermarket last I checked. You could always just buy one door at a time. At least you only have 2 doors
