    I though the rods were different in the Series 3 supercharged engines as well? Are the strongest rods from the NA 97-03 engines?

    Yes, there is a difference but not one that matters.

    The series 3 uses a powdered connecting rod where the series 2 does not. They are basically the same strength and you wouldn't hurt either motor anyway if you pushed it on power.
