They just make your wallet lighter.

Napa pro-select and napa gold cabin air filters work just fine. Change them out every year or every other year and you are fine. Both work fine to stop dust from coming through the vents.

Yes, underneath the passenger cowl. you have to take off the wipers to get the cowl off.

On the 97-03 Grand Prix it is under a small piece of the cowl (The whole cowl doesn't need to come out) on the passenger side. You have to remove 3 plastic fasteners. Remove them careful as they might be fragile due to the age of these cars.

To my knowledge the grand prix's never had them from the factory, there is just a slot for them under the cowl.

The regals and bonnevilles had factory installed cabin air filters.

When i got my car there was a dealer paper license plate blocking the slot!

That might have been there as a water deflector. Some of these cars flood the passenger floor. There's a thread somewhere.

Yup, that was my thought too!

I replace my Fram cabin filter every 2 years or so, and am considering looking at the new K&N purely for the cost savings. The Fram is almost $30 up here, but I usually get it out of the US for $8-10.

Pure-o-lator from Advance $11-14, iirc. Good item to pad your order to score some rewards bucks.

I like auto zones rewards better. They give $20 for use on anything. Advanced only gives $20 off of $50 purchase. But I don't like autozone because of the branding. I like to know what I get

I always look for deals. The last CF8392A I got for $7.99 US ($10.78 CDN) back in Feb of this year. Staff price at my old work is over $20 CDN.

Also, the plastic frame that does not come with unfiltered cars can easily be pulled off any Junkyard W body. I pulled one of an '02 La Sabre <one screw> and put it in my '04 Prix. The grooves and holes are already there.

Who gives a **** what kind of filter it is. Buy the cheapest one there is. The consequence is nothing compared to any engine fuel or transmission filter quality and destroying an engine or transmission. We are talking about cabin air here. Filtering anything is better than nothing. If you atre worried about catching lung cancer or something you are better off wearing a respirator.

I used my $20 autozone rewards and bought a stp filter and a can of ac system deodorizer. So basically this was a free upgrade.
