I have a 2006 Pontiac Grand GXP and I recently installed a new stereo. I noticed though that the radio and climate controls will often shut off and then turn back on. It also says 'charging system failure' or stability control and traction control inactive. It doesnt happen all the time though. Does anyone know what the issue might be?
    Thank you.

Did you use adapters to install the new stereo, or just cut the factory harness?

It's either a hack install or just coincidence and your alternator is failing.

Was it JUST a stereo or a new system? Also, did your car have the Monsoon system?

does it happen only after its warmed and then you turn the car off and back on? if so o think its an 04+ voltage regulator thing nothing to do with radio unless if pulls massive current

It just randomly happens while I'm driving. It never happens right after I turn it on.
I just soldered all of the wires instead of using splicers and I'm about to take it on a pretty long trip. We'll see what happens.

http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...-error-message read through some of the links it talks about the sensors that go bad or you could just have bad install or alternator

He's also getting flickering lights and other issues indicating its not just a false message. He needs to watch his voltage and see what is going on.

I soldered all the leads instead of using splicers and it seems to be working fine now. I took it on a long trip and it was fine. The voltage meter is reading lower now too (<15.0 usually).
