Hey guys. I have a 04 gt with the 3.8 NA in it currently, and a totally wrecked 02 car with a great SC engine in it. From what I've read up on swap the only thing different in the cars becides the years in the electric throttle in the newer car. Has anyone done a gen 2 swap into a gen 3 car before. If so can you tell me any problems you may have ran into. Thanks in advance.

swap the lim, upper intake and the oil pan and mount, it drops right in there.

It's an L67 engine going into a previously L26 powered car, correct?

You'll need to get an adapter plate for the TB, possibly custom made... And a tuner, because neither PCM will work. My suggestion is just try to find a Gev 5 Supercharger and a tuner, you'll need a custom fuel rail, and about a week to do everything it will need in order to run.

I've looked at what it would need, it's a decent bit of work, but not impossible.

i missed the sc engine part. you can, but you need a adapter plate for the tb to a gen 3 blower or find a gen 5 blower..... and you "need" a tuned pcm. or the sc engine will blow up on ya.

I just did a swap 98 3.8 S/C into a 02 SE ( 3.1) wiring is a problem there were 5 wires the 98 had in the engine bay fuse box that the 02 did not have. it runs great but has some problems, Codes P0401 EGR and P0141 02 senor heater along with ABS light, Low oil level. temp gauge does not register but OBD2 see the water temp. The gear selection does not change on the dash, it will take a while to trace the wiring problem but the good thing is there is no emission testing in my area so I am good to go while I figure it out.

I also had to change out the throttle cable as the ends were different on the TB side.

you wont have that issue, only thing you should cut off and re splice is the map sensor pig tail from a 04 up sc car and its map sensor.

You'd be better off getting a gen V (04+ grand prixs) supercharger to swap over and it will be smoother.

You could use a map sensor harness adapter. My 04 Impala SS comes with the same map sensor setup, sorta, and I'm running the regular 97-03 map with the adapter harness.

You'll also need a custom tuned Pcm or at least take one for an 04 supercharged car and swap it in, you'll need it to be programmed to your car by the dealership I believe.
No more GP 04 Impala SS Indy:
