Has anyone had this issue before?

I was wondering if just replacing the whole unit is easy to do because I found one on ebay, or does this have little to nothing to do with the issue?

This is the same unit in the car:

Have you checked other parts of the system before you jump straight to the hvac controller?

Does the a/c compressor have power, is the relay still good??

Does the system still have enough freon to kick the system on?

Can you explain your thought process on the other items? I will explain mine:

If there was a problem in another area of the A/C system, I would figure the A/C light would turn on, but the system simply wouldn't work. Also, the item is rather easy to change and not expensive, so that was my logic to start there.

Now as far as the a/c compressor having power. I don't know that, don't know where to check, but do have a voltage meter. The freon should be full since I filled it last summer and has been working all year up to now.

I didn't know that the light isn't turning on, I figured you press the button but nothing happens. A slim chance the bulb inside there is burnt out.

The bulb light is intermittent. Maybe it is burning out? I press it and it kinda turns on, but by the time the button decompresses, it's not lit.

Pretty sure the A/C wasn't working either way, but I'll be sure of it after work today when it's warmer.

Yeah everything else was working fine.

I tried it again on the way home and everything worked properly. Hoping it's a fluke, but I'm sure it isn't, maybe the switch is going out.

I have a similar issue. The LED or wiring of the LED is loose. If I press on the surrounding area of the button it lights up. Does not affect the use of the a/c though.
