I had a feeling that the steering wheel fluid was low when I was driving home as the steering wheel felt weird. Two question, first can I use any kind of steering fluid? Is it normal that for the resivoir to be so low? The lid has a fluid level measure on it and the liquid in there doesn't even reach the add line.

Just use Prestone Power Steering fluid. If you find something cheaper, look on the jug for something that says "GM compatible." I'm sure most are, but check to make sure. Add it until the level is normal. Mine was low too and I added some, and now it's fine.

Check it again in a week or so and see if the level is holding steady. If not, you've got a good size leak to be losing that much P/S fluid in one week.

Should I just top it off and see if it leaks again or should I just add the stop leak? Would I need to do a mixture of the two? If I use the stop leak and if it turns out still an issue would it harm the car if I used that? Would they need to do a full flush and fix the leak because of that?

it leaked out if its low, so add some stop power steering fluid with a stop leak. or you could do the right thing and get under the car and find the leak/
im sure theres a stain where you park over night, the stain will tell what side is leaking. then look up for a wet spot.
if the rack is leaking from the boots the rack is on its way out. time to replace it.

It's not a slow lead, I filled it up at 12 today and had a look just not in the resivoir and it was below the add line. Here are some pictures under the car I believe it coming from the line, I included some pictures of where I saw it wet.

looks like both your p/s lines are rusted out. time to change them both.
the line nuts on the rack are 18 mm a line wrench works best, but a open end will do most of the time.

It looks line the lines also, going to see how hard the job is, seems not a bad job but I'm pretty busy with work and family. Curious to see how much my local garage will charge me?

its not hard. hose clamp to one on the pup. 15 mm line nut on the pump.
then from removing racks in the past, i found it easier to lower the sub frame a few inches, then take the lines off the rack. it adds some room to work in.
to lower the rear of the frame you need the car on jack stands under the rockers, then a jack under the middle of the rear part of the frame, then back the two rear frame bolts out like 2 inches, lower the jack, but dont rest the weight on the loose bolts.

So both lines are leaking, apparently the return line is something like a ridiculous price to get and the pressure line is standard price about 50-100. Took it to my local garage and he was able to make his own return line. Why is it so expensive? Return lime was like over 250

where you shopping? the dealership?
you can cut the bad line out and replace it if thats what the garage did. what i would have done im sure. cause im cheap and its a 17 year old car already.

Return line is ~$55 on Rockauto for the gates.

No local parts place in Canada called caps. Any place in Canada either they couldn't get it or it will cost a lot. The bad line was cut and replaced it.

Weird, Rockauto doesn't list a return hose for a 2008 but there is one for the 04-07.

That's what they said, the connection is different and it won't fit so it will be hard to get one unless you can make your own. I took it to my local garage really trusted guys and they just did the work for me and didn't really charge that much labour
