Now I thought the knock was push rod related, but it's not? It's premature detonation? And how does it happen or when does it start?

when i was stock it started at 3200 rpm and built like mad all the way through the rpms up to 8*kr. dropping my timing to like 6* and the car would pretty much fall on its face.

every car is a bit different tho. some cars have very little kr stock, others like mine were kr monsters. rockers and a u bend delete took all the kr away too. then it pulled damn good, cause no more kr and no more timing being pulled. <<<<still on the stock tune mind you.

it happens when the cylinders are too hot, or cylinder pressures too high, and the fuel ignites prior to the spark plug igniting. this will push down on the piston as it's traveling up. this causes damage on a number of levels.

the real cause of the pistons chipping is the upper ring gap closes up and lops off the corner of the piston. it always happens in the same spot for everyone that's done it.

KR is just a way for us to know that detonation is occurring and that we need to deal with it in some form, whether it be fuel, timing, or air related.

thats the toque app. you need a bletooth obd2 scanner and a droid os in a phone or tablet.

costs less than 20 bucks. 5 for the app, 10 to 15 for most obd2 scanner. im using the elm 327

i got this one, but this one sold from china, will take for ever to get to you. see how its th elarge one and it says advance obd scan tool the mini's dont seem to work well and dont say that on it.

theres other too guys have found to work well as well. but they seem to cost up to 20 bucks.
