Its in a body shop repairing the '
    lower rocker panel moldings,
    car was on a lift
and not checked by the tech.
car sat on the moldings cracking both
    parts are discontinued by GM
they need to be 'glassed and painted

For stuff like that I go to car-part.com. Guarantee you can find a set, and might be in the correct color too.

My 00 GT has decided to start draining it's power steering system. I haven't and won't have time to check it out until at least mid October so I just fill it up every day when I am home to drive it. Working out of town it sits all week so not a huge issue but the fluid cost is starting to add up, lol. Other than that just driving it. Rolled 507K the other day. Time to do some gasket work, fluid changes and suspension rebuild again. Might check plugs/wires too. Going to be a busy fall/winter I think. And expensive.

Finally tracked down my power steering leak. The pressure line was leaking under the split loom plastic cover. Got lucky and my local parts store had one in stock. After cleaning everything up underneath and whatnot got it done in about 4 hours. I still hate messing with that line. Between getting both ends to properly thread into the rack and pump and also getting that stupid loop routed just right between everything on the pass. side it's a PITA. Driven it a few times and so far so good. Will check again tomorrow to see if everything is dry still.

Got to play contorsionist and replaced my toasted blower motor resistor. Nice to have all my fan speeds back again just in time for winter.

Drove it for the first time in 2 weeks. Being out of town for work sucks sometimes. Fired right up and rolled out. Overdue for an oil change that should get rectified shortly.

Finally got the oil changed last week. Good to 515K now.

Made a junkyard run today for some various parts. Went to get a spare ICM/coils setup and a pass. side window/lock switch setup for myself and some other odds/ends for my brothers 01 GT.

As I was taking the coil assembly off an 02 my daughter noticed that this car had really clean looking headlights and corners. I hadn't even noticed, lol. They were indeed new TYC's. So I grabbed the entire setup to boot. When all was said and done walked out with all my stuff for $100. $20 of which is coming back for the cupholder and onstar mirror cover that my brother needed for his GP.

Finally got a chance to wash and vacuum it today as well. Threw the new headlights/corners on it and the new window switch. Now everything is back to 100% and clean finally. Needs a buff/wax but I ran out of daylight and energy.

Looking like it's time to change the struts again. The Eibachs finally killed them and now I'm getting a clunk in the right rear.

Last weekend I put a new battery in the GT and new back tires on the 69 then let Dad drive it. Front tires on the GTP maybe a month before that. It has 319K on it now. All are going downhill fast and are desperately overdue for oil changes. 73 Mustang with blown Coyote swap job at work is down to welding up a wheelhouse section, a qtr, and a roof. It was quite a shock finding this forum operational today!
All Grand Prix, all the time. 69 Model J, 99 GT & GTP coupes. All junk, haha.

What's up junk! Sounds like those GP's just need a little love and back on the road they go. That 73 'Stang sounds like a cool project.

What did the lower rocker replacement run you? Just curious as my 00 GT needs them too. PM me if you don't want to post it.

$3,500.00 The mechanic shop that damaged them, put up the $$.
I was hosed for $500.00 to get my car back, The whole process sucked.
The body shop used the old rockers as templates to refabricate new ones from fiber glass, 3 coats of paint, and 3 coats of clear coat.
I searched all over the country to find OEM, a dealer in Georgia reffered me to a dealer in Tennesse.
They had only one side......Shipping was $450.00 the part was $420.00.
At this point in time, the original, lower rockers become quite brittle, removal is challenging with out damage.
Most aftermarket rockers look like trash.
The shop still has my templates.

Thanks for the update Texas3. One question tho.. was this the plastic piece that runs from front to back on the outside of the car (attaches to the metal outer rockers) or the actual outside rocker panels?

Yes, the long "plastic" piece that runs from the rear of the front wheel well to front of rear wheel well. hangs on the rail, under the doors

Not my GP, but my brother's 01 GT. Installed new KYB quickstruts on the front, swaybar endlinks, drivers side control arm, patched up the resonator, new headlights/corners and new lug nut caps. Been a busy but productive day!
