O...
I rolled over 193k a day or so ago. Today once the rain broke I went out and rotated the tires. With snow in the forecast rotation was a must. My fronts are pretty wore and were usable for regular every day use, but wouldn't do sh!t if there were snow on the roads. All set for now, but I have been pricing snow tires, both used and new, and am thinking about getting a pair to replace the two worn tires then put them back up front.
Also made the decision I am just going to press on with the GP for now, at least through winter. I mean, my car with 193k isn't worth any more than if I drive it through winter and have 195k when I decide to part ways with it.
started the tranny swap this afternoon. got the ball joints popped, axles out, tranny bracket to engine unbolted, p/s steering lines un bolted/clipped, rack un bolted. tc un bolted, starter, trannys been drained. pan did not look good, all gritty but no chunks.
was having a brain fart undoing the rack bolts, i know i reached in and just undid them, after trying and failing it dawned on me i lowered the rear sub frame, well ok that easy enough right? pass side breaks free and comes right out, drivers side wont move, i up my game to 1/2 drive and a breaker bar, still wont move, up game to a 5 foot pipe. now it creaks and pops and feels like its breaking the whole way out, but it came out. soaked both them bolts in tranny fluid then i had to put them back in cause its not sub frame drop time just yet.
then i re installed my pull brackets, never thought id need them but i always hold on to old crap i take off. i figure they will be the easiest way to hold the engine up. gonna use the engine hoist from the pass side to hold it up
Its the betterest its ever done been (at 238K miles)! These wheels are definitely less chicky.
Gimmie gimmie!
I've been looking for a decent set but must up here are curbed to hell or super crusty.

Found em not a mile from the house and watched the CL ad for 2 weeks so figured they must be mine. They have lots of wheel weight blemishes but no rash. Had major brake dust though so I scrubbed the backsides. Had 2 235/55R17 Fuzions on them, almost new. I put em on front and rubbed the rocker molding first time out of the driveway. Its mainly the molding's fault, need to tweak it. But I went for 225/55R17 Douglas cuz in stock and 235s weren't, and put those up front. It helped rub clearance barely. So far, so good. I need to make a way to put the TS center caps on but the horses don't bother me much. The lug nuts are the existing ones. It could use some new those in chrome.
Wiped down the green stuff in the trunk area. Did this as I was waiting for a dude to come by the house. He showed up and bought my old set of headlights/corner/brackets/Piaa bulbs. I paid around $80 for them (bulbs were free) 4-5 years ago and sold it all for $100. Good deal for me.
Blasting the fan will suck a ton of heat out of the heatercore at idle, needs higher revs to get/keep the coolant warmer.
3800's are pretty cold blooded too.
