Dang the luck Scotty, thats bunk when wheels lock up. I had a TH350 lock up on me in my Buick once, too. I heard it going noisy but was far from home and caught a red light, thats when it locked up. Unhooked the driveshaft while waiting for a tow back to my town, slapped the TH400 in from my totaled 75 GP. Hope your swap goes smooth and that you can handle the expense without massive trauma.
Boss leaves for SEMA tomorrow. Trailering the green Bronco which recieved a huge round of recent upgrades. That thing is quite a rig.

Today I went to the shop and dragged my spare L67 out from under the bench where it sat last couple years. Put it on my stand finally, de-funked it a little, snatched the TB off and cleaned it then swapped it onto the GTP. Old one has a broken screw in it. It starts easy and runs fine now. This thing can just stand in the corner to intimidate ricer dude at work lol.
Noticed more wine than normal coming from the transmission, so I checked the power steering fluid and it was down. Topped it up and the transmission wine is back to what it used to be.
Been doing some research on air filters. My dad swears by his k&n, I've been told don't bother with them. From what I've found, they only let more air through because they are less restrictive, which in turn let's more dirt thru. I'm just going to get the Fram tough guard with the plastic frame around it. Maybe I'll do plugs. Only got 60k on them.
Been a dealer and personally using K&N filters for over 25 years with no issues. The internet likes to pick on K&N due to their large advertising budget (same with Fram). Do they give power increases? Maybe. Can you wash 'em and use them over and over and over. You bet!
But are they cost effective? You have to oil them every time you wash them? I've had them before and washed but never re-oiled and didnt have any issues. I've had proven experience that they do provide better throttle response. My dad has drilled holes in the bottom of his air box and uses a k&n and has said he has better MPG. I had one in my Hyundai and my Camry. Just hate how biased people are about them. Really makes you think.
