Thats the one I did. Good thing its easy.
If Advance had the ability to look up my entire history there I would bet I am close to $10,000 (if not more) spent there over the last 18 years. If you add my dad and my brother we are probably close to $40,000 or more as a family over the same time period and none of us have ever had a issue with their quality. Also, if they don't have what I need at the store, 99% of the time they'll have it by the next day and you don't get charged anything to have it there the next day. They've always treated me right, so I will continue to use them.
NAPA on the other hand, never has anything I need, charges you shipping to get stuff in that they have to order, and that shipping isn't cheap. Also the chances of having it the next day are slim to none. The guys at the store act like they can't be bothered and the stuff not behind the counter is stupid expensive compared to other stores. For example I stopped in there the other day because I was in the area and the spray lube was priced so stupid I turned around and walked out the door.
O'Reilly's or... haven't needed to try anywhere else so that tells you something. Either about how much I or they care. Napas are owned locally, other chains are not. If I'm not mistaken! Totally different deal, but their strategy is pro-based more than retail (IMHO) and that explains why a Napa burger might not taste the same two states away but an Advance burger will. That plus Napa is in a lot more places now, its been growing and we all know thats painful. OR is strong in both pro and retail. Pros usually like Napa because thats who they are there for. Just my .02.
My 99, the GTP... ah she is doing a lot better after this weekend's showering of attention. Bill thanks for bumping me towards ignition woes. About all I did today was to flush the steering and boy it needed that like a hog needs slop. feels like christmas eve because tires tomorrow lol
Drove gp today, anytime i give it more than 2/3 throttle, i get a horrible smell. Cat converter? Getting no ses lights, feel like car has lost power, spark plugs were just replaced, wires not sure mabey just a clogging cat?
you already said you had a clogging cat
Pulled valve covers to check rockers. Everything is good, thankfully, so looks like my engine notice is definitely another exhaust leak. Bah. Gonna get some new gaskets and try gain. Certainly sound like header leak at head. Also killed fuel pump, or so I thought. Pulled it out, desoldered and hooked to battery charger. Started purring gain with a few swift bumps on the garage floor. Hacked me canister a little more while I was there.
Also ordered some poly dogbone bushings. Mine are flipped and ripped.
Matt,
SEM does make a graphite that matches up very well. Allow me to give you some examples of how well
Backside, because this switch wasn't meant for this bezel
Bill's first homelink
Texture on it
SEM'd
Anyone recognize this fog light button?
It's their graphite though.. works mint for GM cars.
On the throttle body cleaning. Get a fresh gasket and just pull the TB. Don't worry about coolant, you won't lose enough to bother with. Don't drain..just pull it.. clean the surface and TB..then put it back together.
As far as running with a potential incorrect wiring.. these motors can run very well with the wrong wiring, it's pretty amazing. As well they usually want just a little ignition help. Glad that's all it was.
that sem paint for my steering wheel was damn nice to work with too. the coats dry to the touch in minutes too.
for a part you touch all the time, its holding up perfectly still.
Funny, mine does pretty much the same thing...... only because my disabled "auto on" lights think it is dark all the time and turn the park lights on when the e-brake is released. So I added that "delay on" relay to the fogs so I can leave the fog light switch "on". I like it. LOL
That SEM product is awesome. As long as you prep good, it will last. I did the interior of my Bronco way back. It took a beating and still looked good.
Are you using the stock alarm? I have an aftermarket one, and when I was testing the delay on relay, I noticed that the remote start turns the park lights on and off a few times as it runs its self-tests, and my 4 second delay needed to go to 5 seconds. Couldn't get 5, so settled for 6. LOL
I love it this way. I haven't turned the fog light switch to off in what seems like forever, yet I have HID fog DRL's that can be turned off by me if and when I want.
