Damn dude, that's crazy. That's one reason I kept renters insurance before I bought my first house, my buddy had his place broken into and a lot of stuff stolen, that insurance helped him big time.

231Fun, is not the only benefit of the Dex supposed to be it's longevity compared to green? If you're changing it just as often, why waste the money on it? I'm not the one claiming it lasts 5 years, that's what the manufacturer claims. If the only difference between the 2 is that one is way more likely to sludge, what keeps you going back to it? I'm honestly curious. Own stock in the company? Get the hookup with free/cheap dex at work? Bragging rights to say you have special coolant unlike regular cars?

Not sure if those worked right, haven't posted pics on here before. Couple shots of today's dexsludge fight, this is after the first flushing after replacing the LIM gaskets, battle continues. Poor regal only has 166k on it, at least she's in good hands now, previous owner was an older lady that at least kept the oil changed. Beyond that, not so much for maintenance.

Unfortunately dex cool has more disadvantages than advantages. I've seen it kill plenty of GM engines due to it either sludging the radiator or making holes in aluminum parts.(seen it eat through a 3800 LIM) But it will be the biggest debate on a car forum, ever. It's fine if you maintain it. Bottom line. Who the heck maintains their car nowadays? Excluding people on car forums. That limits it down pretty good. But really, working at an automotive repair shop over a year now, I have only 2 times changed the coolant because the customer wanted to maintain their vehicle. I have only once changed transmission fluid because they wanted to maintain their vehicle. How many times have I flushed a dex cool system because it was sludged to complete crap? I can't count that on 2 hands. So although it may be better for aluminum in its first few years, it does much more harm than good in the general population. You can't really disagree with that unless you're ignorant. Or you live in a town where everyone maintains their car, and have never left home.
