Isn't it also recommend that you use distilled water when mixing, regardless of the coolant type? Does anybody actually do that? And how much does that affect the condition and longevity of the coolant?

As I said before, I don't really care what the reason it sludges up is, it shouldn't do that, period. Dex sludges, green **** doesn't, end of story.
If someone made an engine oil that turned into sand without "proper maintenance", you think that would be cool? Blame the owner for not changing it at 3k miles on the dot for it? Seriously?
My Suburban and Blazer also both sludged up with dexcrap, no issues with intake gaskets, doubt the systems had air in them for 50k miles. I don't care what coolant people run either, but they should at least get as much info as possible to make an informed decision.
Show me where green coolant ever sludged up.
LMAO! That black sludge you see is the plastic LIM gaskets failing dude. Dexcool doesn't turn black lol. Plastic gaskets will fail regardless of what coolant you use. Like I said before green **** isn't good for aluminum hence why manufacturers don't use it anymore. Like I said before, it's your car and whatever problems you get are your problems not mine so IDGAF what you do, just trying to help you lol
Umm, point out to me where I ever mentioned anything about "black sludge"? It's orange sludge, and I had to dig it out of the coolant ports on both heads on every 3800 car I've pulled a LIM off of. Lots of chunky orange goodness from the rad ofc, never pulled the end tanks off to see what it looked like inside there, though. The Dex isn't any better for aluminum, so I don't know where you're getting that info from, my regals lim was pitted to hell around the coolant ports, would've taken pics but it's already pretty well documented.
Idgaf what anyone does either, like I said, they can read the info, Google search images of dexcool, and make their own decision. Manufacturers also don't care what's best for the car, so don't let that be your guide, they're out to make money. If it outlasts the warranty period, they could give a **** less what happens afterward.
Age? It's allegedly good for 100k miles/6 years iirc. Keep on rocking it if you like it bro, nobody's stopping you. Don't try and convince me to make yourself feel better, though, lol. Had too many engines apart that tell a different story, apparently every one of them with air in the system their whole life, lmao.
100k 5 years so going 6 years is an issue and you not knowing that is one of your problems. Also, I don't have to convince you. I'd rather you run the green stuff because it'll boost our economy. I'm just listing valid reasons on here so people who want to learn don't end up like you. Lots of people think they bleed the system correctly but don't. I'm sure you've had many engines apart and that's a sign that you don't know what you are doing and what you're talking about. Again, please put the green stuff in and use the plastic gaskets BRO! LOL!!!
That escalated quickly

Never said you shouldn't buy a vehicle with dexcool. You know you can have some pitting and the parts are gonna be fine. It would take a very very long time for unmaintained dexcool to completely destroy aluminum parts. You would also see if there was severe damage to the aluminum parts by looking at the coolant.
Well pits in the aluminum could potentially cause cavities which would expose it to air... So my point remains, with the risk running Dexcool, why would you risk it?
"COULD POTENTIALLY" It's been said over and over and over again, MAINTAIN IT PROPERLY and you won't have issues. Is that so hard? Like it's been said over and over and over again, Green coolant isn't good for aluminum hence why all manufacturers dont run it anymore and use their own version of 5 year coolant.
Now, again, use what makes you sleep better. If you don't mind, I have to deal with a much more serious issue right now thanks to a dumb ass lady burning our apt building down
Well I guess you got me bro, even in 3rd grade I never could figure out a good comeback to the old, "Nuh uh, you!" defense. You are the exact reason people not under warranty avoid dealerships like the plague. Not going to bother refuting any of your points anymore, as you just ignore what's inconvenient and completely fabricate other stuff to support your argument.
Best of luck with the fire, hope it wasn't too bad, especially being in an apartment.
I'm pretty sure I said it needs to be changed out as often as the green stuff many posts ago.
It don't last five years...which is the biggest problem when claims are made that it does.
My properly maintained and regularly flushed l67 has no such pitting/cavities in the aluminum after having dexcool in it for 13+ years.
But run whatever you want...
