Just had mine in for the recall. Then saw the gift card thing on the news.Dealership where I had recall fixed never said anything about gift card
More like don't want to pay someone else off."We're concerned about your safety, and you should put this at the top of your to-do list," she said.
Source: http://www.cbsnews.com/news/general-...ecall-of-year/GM has acknowledged knowing about the switch problem for more than a decade before it began recalling the cars in February.
Call them up and ask for it, they'll likely give you one.
Guess it's the next best thing, since you can't just recall all the careless drivers that put 10lbs of crap on their key chain.
I'm still really surprised the 97-03 never got recalled. All the other w-bodys of similar years did.
early key's were small head units with the recessed ign collar had very little chance for the keychain to get the leverage to turn the ign witch where the later large head keys have plenty of leverage
Just wanted to let you all know from what gm dealership told me. 2 different recalls one for ignition switch and other is key insert. People who have the ignition switch will get a $25 gift card in mail not by dealership. People who have key insert get $0... Mine is the insert unfortunately : (
