So newbie mechanic here, my brother-in-law gave me his 97 grand prix. He drove it hard. When he gave it to me he said don't use the parking brake....so naturally I wanted to see what he meant. So when I used it, the abs light came on and it just started acting like brakes without abs. Then shortly after, I fired it up and it was gone and the abs worked fine. Still does it every time I use the parking brake though. Any ideas what the heck is going on?

Weeeeiiirrrrdddddddd..... my guess is a wiring issue involving the little electrical switch on the parking brake that turns the light on in the dash and ect....

Unfortunately I can't tell I don't own a scanner to begin with and the only one I have access to only does engine codes. I'm assuming whatever it is has to do with the rear brakes any chance it could be something to do with the hub? Could the abs mechanism itself be hatched? It does have 297km. If so how would I tell....?

Their scanners suck. They only work for vehicles with abs that are 04 and up

We need the code. Come back when you have it and it'll be easy. Borderline impossible for it to have ANYTHING to do with your rear wheels.
