So I was driving around yesterday for quite some time, no problems. All running usual. I finished my errands and decided to go to the car wash before I went to pickup my roommate from work. Since I only had about twenty minutes I decided I would do a quick, cheap, automatic, drive in and stop while your car is being washed, kind of car wash. So all was fine, and I pulled out and sat for a minute to roll down my windows and open the sunroof. Once I pulled into the road my car did an awful rub type acceleration. Felt like I was driving on gravel, with zero traction, and flat tires. It was terrible. Then I left off the gas, and try to let it stop, and it does, however, I try and gas it to go so that I don't get honked at or rear ended for going slow, and my RPMs just go straight up, with no movement. I let off the gas and try again and it repeats the rub feeling. That went on for about three minutes, so I pulled into a shop and turn it off, go and talk to mechanic, he was beyond rude like always. (He's an "friend" of mine) So I go to my car and start it, starts fine, and attempt to drive it to a parking lot about 50 meters away. I made it and I didn't see a problem with it again. I go and pickup my roommate across town, and on the way back my car goes into a neutral like state no matter what gear I was in. I have to turn it off then back on again, and that gives me about 15 seconds of actual power to move the car.

    Trans fluid is full.

    All help is much appreciated.

Thanks to any and everyone in advance.

Pop the hood and look at any connections around the tranny and engine to make sure nothing loose. Start there

Sounds to me like your filter is getting clogged after start-up. When you shut the car off the debris clogging the filter flows back into the pan. You start it again and it gets sucked back in and starves the transmission for fluid. Have you ever changed the filter? Either way, I pan drop is in order.

Booba nails it. Something happened internally and filled the pan with material that clogged the filter.

Check engine light is on, but it was on before that. Not saying it wasn't because of this but there would be no way for me to tell. Is there anyway I could have a how to on the pan drop and filter change?
