who gives a flying fu*k about what you can get from "resellers". I think we got that by watching the first 3/4 of your video....

I thought the WHOLE POINT of this, was to modify them to remove the Goose Neck that the Stock SD headers have.... and have a end result with something looking like this....
    http://www.grandprixforums.net/threa...28using-jig%29

If I would have known that, that's all you were going to do, is move the Vband to the top of the flex, rather than be at the bottom. I don't think I would have put my $10 in to tell the honest truth.

this has now pushed me into doing a writeup/video on how to do it the right way in the foreseeable future (unless someone beats me to it)

If you are talking about the WBS headers that is a flat out lie.

And my point is proven (from the post above) about using the jig and doing it right in the first place.

For all the months of talk, I expected to see a lot more as well. If anyone needs jig dimensions, I posted them at some point.

So, maybe I missed it, but since this whole thing was about cost for the average person to match what you did, what is the final cost breakdown of what was done? Initial Purchase, Shipping, Parts and Labor...

And isn't the flex that you used, the one that came with these headers known for leaks?

Price breakdown is on post 1 or 2.
    Welding cost me $40.

The flex doesn't leak until it fails. They all fail. Difference is, when it fails now it's much easier to fix.

I thought this whole thing was supposed to be a realistic cost that would be average for anyone to have done, but I can't think of a welder in my area that would do 4 hours of labor for $40.

Still going to cost me money to ship the headers to the drawing winner.
Still cost me hours of my time researching, ordering parts, finding a fabricator, driving the headers to a fabricator, filming and editing a video.

All in the hopes that maybe a few people will realize they don't have to spend $600+ on a set of headers when they can have the same thing for half the price.
I said right in post one that this would be "SIMPLE". It is very simple. No jig needed. Install time is cut down, flex repairs are made much easier, and a little ground clearance is gained.
The "sewer pipe" rarely hits the ground, even on lowered cars... and it's most definitely not a flow restriction. Therefor effort spent on repairing something that isn't broken is effort wasted.

Also the crossover on these headers is not an issue.
It was an issue on the other style... the style which was discontinued by the reseller who isn't quite sure what he's selling.
This style is now what people get.

    This.

Sounds like to me you made a half ditch effort to get them done and neglected to even bother getting rid of the stupid gooseneck or at the very least replacing the flex with something better. Just so you could put out a rather useless video. After close to 6 months of waiting and you boosting up how easy your method is and the lack of what exactly you were going to do.. Disappointed is a understatement. Right now those $600 headers you made a big fuse about seem worth it.

LOL Are you even trying to be serious right now? Basically, what you're saying is that with the time you put in, you "spent" more than $600, so people should just buy the WBS headers and be done.

Congratulations on making the opposite of the point you were going for, and wasting other people’s money to do so.

    The research is done.
You can jump on ebay, buy a set of SD headers with the upgraded clamps that I listed, take the headers to a shop and say cut here and here and weld this to that, done.

I set the expectation as a 'simple' fix to the issues with this set.
    I fixed those issues... simply.

You can come down on me if you want because your expectation of 'simple' may have differed from mine.
But any one of you would be happy as hell to have this set for 10 bucks.
And any one of you would be thanking me had you taken this advice and your flex blows out in 3 months.

My SD headers burned through 4 flex pipes in 4 years. I tried ZZP flex, SLP flex, and a flex from a local shop that they claimed was indestructible.
I also had poly mounts all around.

So you're welcome for the info, hopefully some guys take advantage of the simplicity and convenience that is gained by doing these modifications.

    Some research ...

Make one cut here, one cut here..weld here. Keep the stock flex because it'll be easy to replace In the future (aka I didn't want to spend more of the donated money), cut a cm off the gooseneck and call it done because it rarely becomes a clearance issues. Then let's compare it to those $600 headers you made a big ass fuse about.

That fixed all of this easy issues.

Did I sum this up right.

Oh and then call that research and development.

The DP doesn't hit? LOLOLOL. I had a set of SD's from a car on Eibach springs and that thing was smashed. My car can go plenty lower than an Eibach car. In short, I'd smash the **** out of it. The main reason I checked on this thread was I thought that issue was going to be fixed, cause it is an issue.

I was lucky enough to never smack my downpipe but sure as **** came close. Id have to agree with the general outrage for this thread, i wouldnt call it a waste of money cause someone got free headers. But the hype over the solution was blown way out of porportion, All one needs to do is chop the flex and get the proper bend welded in then a flex joint if desired. No rocket science involved
