i keep reading that folks with the ol sunroof closing a inch at a time are using white lithium grease on the track to make the roof "float" easier,in turn causing little resistance so the motor will actually open/close the roof. but i never really hera anyone follow up to say it works for more than a day or 2? just wondering as mine has been doing this like 2 years now!

I put some on mine. Couldn't tell a difference but won't hurt anything. Do it.

When i first got my 2001 GT about 18 months ago the sunroof would open halfway...and quit. I greased the tracks and have not had a problem since.

another option is Shin etsu grease. its made for window tracks. You can get it at a Honda dealer. I used it on some very tough Miata windows and worked great. Need to do the Drivers window on my Tahoe now.

it worked!!! cleaned the old goopy grease out, smeared on some white lithium and its fixed! it stopped a few times at 1st,but i re greased and closed it halfway and greased the rear of the track where you cant get to while its fully open. so now its fully functional,i will clean up the grease thats smeared everywhere it shouldnt be tomorrow evening.

I need to do this to mine, every once in a while when closing it'll stop half way up and act like a stubborn child that doesn't want to come inside...inching it's way closer and stopping 2 or 3 times before it finally shuts.

Do it once a year with your spring cleaning... I had a moonroof installed in my GXP and they ask that it's brought in on an annual basis so they can clean/grease the tracks and blow out the drainage tubes.
