Previously when the battery in my car has decided to call it quits it simply stopped starting the car. It would be fine one day, and then the next it wouldn't come close to cranking the engine.

Now over the past two weeks I have had the red battery light come on briefly after starting sometimes. It came on 2 days in a row, then I didn't see it for 6 days and then it went away yet again until yesterday (same driving patterns each day). When it has come on, it would go off around when the car warmed up. Today it stayed on.

Car started right up, red light came on. Drove normally otherwise until about when the light would go off then the abs light joined in for no apparent reason. Shortly after the radio cut out and my phone stopped charging. Drove about 30 seconds more and radio came back along with the phone, red light went off, and abs light got twice as bright.

Thing that I find interesting is that I had the A/C going at a fairly high fan speed which didn't miss a beat during all this.

This my battery simply dying in slow motion or is there something more going on? Should I stop feeding it after midnight?

Have the battery and the alternator checked at your local parts store

It's to early for this. Lol. I can tell you this if the prev gen is anything like the newer one..anytime the battery is having a issue it will cause a bunch of things like abs/TC, security to go off and on in the car.

That answered my question. That it is very possible that the abs light on is due to the battery and not the abs. Which removes quite a bit of worry.

check the battery voltage car off and on, check all grounds and battery connections, the cable to the alt too, make sure its tight, and a top the fuse box.

Sounds like an alternator to me. Get the alternator and battery tested. It could also be a battery cable.

The ABS light and other things come up because the voltage drops below 9 volts long enough that those systems turn off.

As the previous have stated. When battery voltage drops, 'Battery Saver' kicks in systematically shutting down other components.

Does battery saver affect A/C? Also when at 3500+ RPMS battery light would go off. ABS stayed on.

I hooked up torque yesterday day and the voltage sat at about 11.5v until the coolant temp hit 160 or so (switched to closed loop) and then suddenly jumped to staying around 13.5v. All while at a very steady idle.

I am pretty sure its the battery, but just noticing a couple odd things along the way that makes me wonder.

How well do the auto craft batteries perform in our cars?

id think the alt is bad if the volts just jumped back to normal.

Everything you describe points to a failing alternator that cannot handle the load.

Hmmm we got 2 votes for the alternator.

Well I just got it tested, and it had 12.9v and 238 CCA.

I replaced the battery. It was going on 4 years old anyways.

We shall see how it goes starting in the morning as the old battery would not have an issue on the way home anyways.

I think the issue was with the volt booster. I disconnected it, and halfway disconnected the gray part of it and then put it all back. Car has been good for 4 days now.
