****. I bought the gasket to replace it, but I really do not feel like it. I figured since I pulled the front cover off I should replace it but....
Well here's the deal, motor's been open so long that a little bit of water managed to get into the oil. I drained it out but I wanted to pull it and clean it to make sure it was fine. if I put more oil through it and it runs out clean, I should be okay, right?
I don't even ****ing know with this thing anymore.
Anyone have any ideas? I can squeeze the tip of an air nozzle through the first main cap so I could use some air and try to blast out any remaining leftovers out of the pan and then pour some oil down through it to see if it runs out clean.
id take the dog bones off, then dump 2 quarts of new oil in the engine, then rock the engine forward, and let it drain out, do that 2 times maybe, if the first rinse shows some water or milkshake.
problem is the drain bolt is on the side of the pan.
I'll see what I can do. Gonna try to blow it out a bit and then if the oil runs clear, it should be okay. Once she's back together I'm gonna do an oil change after an hour of runtime, so hopefully that'll clear out anything left if possible and then I can get some clean oil in for the break-in period.
no real need to go with that many changes unless your seeing evidence of water mixed with the oil. you'll want to change the filter too if you see milk shake colored oil right after a oil change.
I cleared out most of the milkshake. Once I get it running for the first time I'm gonna let it run for about an hour and then change it, that should get what's left of the sludgy **** out. From then on I'm gonna do a couple oil changes and obviously she'll stay clean. Thanks for making me worry less. I was really stressed out about this ****.
I've let them run for minutes.. if it seems clean.. fire it up.. turn it off and drain again. Oil is cheap and easy overall. If it comes out clean then you are good.
