whats wrong with it? theres a few ways to by pass it if thats what your after.

pretty sure its part of the shiftier. a new one is not cheap, used not to bad.

Like I've said before, if your stock shifter is busted, you're already half-way to installing a fancy ratchet shifter. Pick up a 4L60E/700R4 ratchet shifter, and it should go right in.

There is no anti theft on the shfiter. There is only the safety lockout. If you open the center console area to view the shifter assenbly there is a white disc on the side.. that's the piece that is moved. Look for a broken wire, it's common in the GP world. I kinda wonder if they put the wiring in a bad place.. there seems to be a ton with the issue.

One thread per issue please. I merged them together and now your thread kinda doesn't make good sense.

It's all good though. Follow what has been suggested instead of making a new thread. Thanks

On your update to one of the threads that you are looking for some type of a locking device.. please be more specific in the future.

I don't know if anything exists. However it would be pretty worthless. Reason being is if someone is inside the car, they pop the hood, pop the trans cable connector and put the car in whatever gear they want from under the hood. A simple block of wood under a tire or ebrake is all it would take to hold the car from moving while doing this. Ask how I know.

If you are in a bad enough area that you think someone will steal the car based on getting it into gear, are you concerned they'll tow it?

Most tow trucks don't need the car in gear at all to snatch it. We could give you some suggestions on other ways to disable the car beyond the stock anti theft if you needed the motor to not start.

A ratchet shifter would be a good theft deterrent.

Hell, a set of Hurst Lightning Rods would be even better.
