Just installed a 3.4 pulley and CAI on my GTP the other night and was just wondering if the excessive amount of supercharger whine is normal. I expected it to be louder than stock but it is very loud. Just want to be completly sure there is nothing I should be worried about.

3.4 on a gen V? Sure hope you got mods to support that or you may see chipped pistons in the future. But to answer your question yes it should whine a bit more if your still concerned post a video

I would NEVER run a 3.4 on a genV without headers.

I got a series 2 long block in the garage, albeit not a series 3, I will clean it up for ya once you take the 3.4 up a hill on a hot day & give er.
Seriously, get that pulley off unless you are like >6000 ft above sea level

so I have a 1997 grand Prix gtp, ive had it for while now but when i first bought i drove it probably about 40 miles home, got a mile away from my house and the tranny went out. I bought a used transmission with 60,000 miles drove the car for a week and the tranny went out again. i absoutley love the car it was fast as ****. so time has come around and im thinking about putting another transmission in it that i found for $150 yes or no? do you think i should stick another stock tranny in it or is there anything i could do to the tranny to beef it up a little bit. also the guy has an xp cam and is3 cam headers. but i think he may have sold the headers but if so can i still install the cam or does it have to have headers and is the xp cam any good? he also had 3.4 press on pulleys should i install them with out anything being done and if i do how much of a difference will my car have in power/ect or what kind of difference will it make. and the last thing he also dhp tune he say he can amp my car to a 1.0 or 1.2 dhp file is it safe to do and what kind of difference will it make? thanks responders

I will take a video and post when i get a little bit of time. What other mods do I need to be safe with the 3.4 pulley? I installed the pulley, CAI, colder temp plugs, 180 degree tstat and tuned pcm. I plan to get headers and possibly a corsa cat back this summer. I do not beat on the car on a daily basis, only every once in awhile.

You're going to need injectors, and probably a cam or intercooler.

Water/meth. Get that on there at least to save your engine, then bigger injectors, cam, or rockers. or both. preferably all the above. I like the water/meth option over intercooler, you don't lose boost with water/meth. And runs off of windshield wiper fluid.

    Cam/Intercooler for a 3.4 setup?

He just needs headers and a tune for that.

Anything lower than a 3.4 will require those mods.

GenV dude. He's right that he would need a cam or intercooler on top of headers. if it was a Gen3 then yes all it would take would be what you said usually.

OP read the safely modding sticky thread. Or start looking for a new engine soon.

Headers won't do a thing for him.
