Thread: Clear Coat or no Clear Coat???

I painted the blower and fuel rails while I was doing the LIM and headers, and I am just not sure if I should apply Clear Coat to the blower or not....


Here is what it looks like with NO clear coat.

I like it without clear coat. Plus if you screw up spraying the clear cost well then you'll have to go back to fix it or it'll look like ass. Keep like it is it looks good.

Wont the clear help protect the paint though?

I vote no on the clear cote as well... Not needed!

They make a matte clear coat in engine enamel. I vote go for that to protect the paint job.

Well I originally planned on clear coating it. I even bought the VHT engine clear. But now that I see it the shininess or the rails plays well with the matte finish on the blower.

Again, they have a matte clear.

But I dont think I will get around to buying more paint before I throw this mofo back on the car....

well this paint is oil and heat resistant

I was really only thinking clear for the gloss effect...

Yes it is heat "resistant" but it is still going to be affected whereas the clear will protect it more.

Pffft clear coat, keep your hood shut, nobody cares because its a grand prix.
