im thinking about getting some lowering springs.
How bad is it for the struts/ how does it affect strut life?
What we be a good brand to go with?

100% of people are always like "oh i don't want to lower my car because it'll ride harsh. anything more harsh than stock would suck."
but then they forget to mention they've got 120k miles on their stock suspension and even replacing the struts with ****ty monroe's would be a fantastic leap in the right direction. lowering springs are not a terrible ride so long as your suspension is actually in good shape.
From personal experience kyb gr-2 struts do not last long. So avoid them. I have heard good things about monroes though.
I have the voggies on GR-2's, and after 30k it still rides great. However next time around I'm getting the AGX's for more low and better handling.
So you don't think adjustable dampening on a premium strut with better settings than the company's baseline strut improves handling? I mention the lowering part because a local guy I met had vogtland springs/agx struts and he was about an inch lower than me. Unless his struts were blown, which I doubt because he had about 8k on them.
the struts themselves aren't any shorter than stock, they won't be lower.
the handling part plays more into what the springs are. how the car feels and works with the bumps is more the struts.
