i'm trying to upload video but it's not working. engine started making some weird sounds, i thought it was starter or even crank shaft maybe but took it to a shop and they said it's an internal engine problem. i was speeding the other day, and i mean smashing!, cuz my dad was getting late for a flight. car stopped right outside my neighborhood after the battery sign came on. it started back up and drove fine for 2 days for long distances. then when i got back in my city, it started making a screeching sound like it was the belt, but that wasn't it. i drove it home, but the rpm's acted weird and the sound got worse and it didn't start up like it usually did.

and my oil change went bad as well a while ago, and oil spilled in my garage so i moved my car from my garage out to my driveway (a couple feet) on a dry engine. maybe that could've caused something, but i managed to change the oil and filter in the end to make it work properly. the problem started about a week or so after the oil change

right now an engine from a junkyard is costing me $600 ($550 at another junkyard but it's a buick engine apparently the same), and labour will cost around $7-800.. not trying to spend that much. any advise? how much should i be paying for a 2001 grand prix gt 3.8 non super charged motor?

i just uploaded it onto youtube.

Never ever start a motor without oil in it, as I'm sure you now know. Probably spun a bearing, hard to tell from the vid. but doesn't sound good.

so wait. You started an engin without oil so you didn't get oil on the garage floor? ummmm... you know you can get a bag of floor dry for like 5 bucks right? if that seemed like a good idea you REALLY need to pay someone else to fix your car.

No oil means very big problem. Even for a small distance.

"so i moved my car from my garage out to my driveway (a couple feet) on a dry engine." Serious engine damage as you now know will accur, no oil pressure means metal on metal contact, especially on rod and crank bearings. I am not saying that is what the problem is, but from the sound of it, you should also check the flexplate for cracks, and also the crank dampner.

"so i moved my car from my garage out to my driveway (a couple feet) on a dry engine." Some people just shouldent work on their own stuff.

When I first read "moved my car" it doesn't say if he put it in neutral and pushed or not. As long as the engine wasn't started, there's no issue. If the engine was started w/o oil... that's not always horrible. Moving the car though, that could cause some damage.
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

this is the perfect car for me right now. really don't wanna sell it so if i can fix it for a good price i would much rather do that

i was a gs for a while part time and i was doing oil change and the shop troll got in the car and started it right as i was getting ready to put oil in. i've never seen anyone do something so dumb. just hops in on someone else's ticket and starts the car. it was newer car, too. i dont remember what it was. it was ok, though. unbelievable.
