This has been happening to my 2008 Grand Prix GXP lately and I don't know what it means. It has never happened under the same circumstances twice and it's more of a bother than an issue (I just don't like not knowing why the car would say the message.) Is there a wire coming loose; am I driving it too fast; is it just because it's cold outside? I do know that I am out of windshield washer fluid but the center console tells me this each time I shut the car off. I also accidentally reset the thing for the change oil but I do my own oil changes so I'm not that worried about resetting it everyday if I feel like it. Is the center console--where the radio is located--also called the trip computer or is the car referring to the miles that are on TRIP A, TRIP B or total trip miles? Just thought I would put this out here in case anyone is experiencing this issue. The car has just under 70k and I drive a short distance to work each day (I know--it KILLS the gas mileage and is generally bad for the car) but I haven't had any issues with it. When I called GM today they said they had to have a mechanic look at it to see what was wrong, if anything. I'm not paying a DX fee just so they can tell me there isn't anything wrong with it. Thanks for any information!

Have you conferred with the owners manual to see what it says might be a reason for it giving you such a hard time?
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

so your hud is saying check trip computer? or the dic is saying it? i know if anything goes off on mine it will let me know in the hud.

edit: since bill has chimed in lol, ok does this happen out of nowhere or only when you turn the car on? does it only happen when your car starts to ding at you?
whenver you get a message on the dic it will show, "check trip computer" the trip is also know as a dic.

@bill--i have consulted the manual and the only thing i could find hinted that the DIC was the "trip computer." but it didn't verify anything. @jteske--the HUD is saying check trip computer and the only message i get from the DIC at the time is to change washer fluid. it's random when it does it (i guess depending on when the computer scans for low fluid or does whatever it does during the drive.) i just havent put any fluid in it yet so i'll see if it stops once i do that. will update when i know. thanks for the suggestions/advice.

I called Miss Cleo. She said you ABS Module is going bad. But she's a hack psychic, so what does she know.
Next time it chimes in, hit the arrow button and see if there's a follow-up message.
It very well could be a loose connection on something somewhere.
Irridium spark plugs last 100k mi and work just as well as copper. Copper is a waste on N/A and only lasts 15k mi. Don't use Platinum.
Use 195* tstat unless you can thoroughly explain why not; 99.9% don't need a lower temp.
Almost any oil filter, ever, is of higher quality than ACDelco. Spend $6+.

lose connection will make it say random crap, but it should tell you when you get the washer fluid message. If it is randomly appearing then i would be looking to see what the culprit it.
