Thread: Are 04+ Cooling Systems Hard to Bleed?

Greetings.

I had my water pump replaced (by a shop) on Friday, since then I have driven 175 miles. I can still hear a little gurgling. The temperature stays within normal range, and I do not appear to be losing any coolant. Is this normal this many miles down the road? Or are these cars just a pain in the butt to bleed?

Pro Tip.

1. Park on level ground.
2. Remove bleeder screw.
3. Place large funnel into radiator fill neck.
4. Fill that ***** up until coolant comes out the bleeder.
5. Profit.

Or, just fill the LIM with coolant, then the rad and bleed the cooling system and add as needed.

I'm with FFDP. A LIM air bubble will not always bleed out by radiator filling alone. I've come across a couple pissers that wanted the T stat housing and thermostat removed to fill at LIM.

How do you know you have a LIM air bubble?

Only time I encountered gurgling was a pinhole in the coolant elbow.

sounds like air caught up in the heater core, if you hear it from inside the car, from the center dash area.

Thats about where its coming from. Should i run the heat on full for a while? Will this work itself out?

the best way really it to remove both heater core hoses off the alt bracket, run a garden hose into one hose and flush the core out. if it burps when filling it with the hose you know you got it. fill it so both hoses are full of water and put them back on the car, then re bleed the t stat housing for the fun of it, you know to just make sure.

i like to let my car idle, a/c off till the fans come on, i leave the rad cap off the whole time, topping it off as needed while waiting for the fans to kick on, once the fans turn on, then i bleed it. top it off if need be, cap it/done.
