Why would you want more volume?

    The 3800s sound like poo.

Keep it quiet, focus on supercharger whine.

It's no v8. You won't get much of a deep throaty sound. Keep the resonator on without it its going to drone like crazy. Like TLsheff said focus on the whine!

If you are using the factory resonator I would suggest swapping out for a long glasspack to put in place, it will either quieten it down or keep it about the same volume but if you have a rasp in it as it revs down that will go away.

I saw a video of one car, the exhaust was all custom, headers to 3" with a long 30in+ glasspack, then split to 2.5" back to mufflers. I can't remember what mufflers were used but it was deep at idle but quieter when driving.

but 90% of all 3800 cars with exhaust systems are loud, whiney, raspy and obnoxious. just not good. Keep quiet let the blower scream and make people do the double-take when you pull away.

Where at in IN are you?

I have magnaflow's series 11225, catted 3inDP, headers, no resonator. sounds good, no rasp, no drone. Sounds good and isn't super loud, only when you get on it of course, but the SC whine kinda drowns it out with the CAI. Only problem is my leaky flex section. Damn SD flex >:|

this is the only video with my current exhaust that I stated, iphone 4s quality

My girlfriend says my cars quiet compared to her dads....We both have aftermarket exhaust, only difference is the mufflers and he has VS cam/ 1.7 YT's. His is miles louder and drones like crazy. It really depends on the mufflers on droning. Yes, deleting the res will more than likely cause drone, unless you have good mufflers. Like mine lol

im running a Thrush glasspack in place of my resonator with the rest of the exhaust stock. it sounds deeper and a little less raspy, but when u rev it high it has that raspy v6 sound lol im still looking for some mufflers to swap over to but for now just the glasspack swap sounds good to me

if your exhaust is quiet, but the tone changed with the catback exhaust and isn't raspy and all that jazz, deleting the resonator should help make it more audible. Depending on the mufflers/catalytic converter (lack there of) it shouldn't make it rasp or drone.

CaT (singlular). Manifolds (Headers are aftermarket).

Resonator: You need one. You delete it, car will automatically sound like total ass, no matter the muffler choice. Run catless with whatever headers you want and then turn to the catback if you want more noise.

But loud on these cars is junk...the exhaust note is horrible.
