No one is able to tune the 07 models...I think 05 is the newest.
Ok...I was misinformed. I will add that to my knowledge bank.
overkill (will) can tune all the way to 2008 as long as your have an ac delco PCM. unless something has changed and he can do both types of pcm's now...
benny you'd be better off getting your car breathing better and then get a tune done. this is the convo i had with will awhile ago about this.
basically looking for a little bit more Jam from my grand prix until i can afford to go turbo or s/c.
it's a 2008 grand prix. with l26. only modification to the engine would be an intake.
i plan on replacing plugs and wires due to mileage in the next month or so, if there is any specific plug i can switch to that will help you tune. i'm all ears.
so things i'm specifically looking for would be firmer shifts, removing top speed limit, and of course gaining any power possible.
My computer tune would take care of the things you mention on your wish list. There's some power to be gained as well, especially if you go for a 91 octane tune, but the 87 octane will also give some power gains and all the driveability/responsiveness/transmission improvements.
For plugs and wires, go over to rockauto.com, search for United Ignition #7652, those are Delphi OEM wires from pre-04 gen and good quality. For plugs, go 1 step colder; look at plugs for a 2006 Ford Fusion 3.0 V6 and any of those should fit and are 1 range colder. Copper/platinum/iridium, no performance difference on naturally aspirated, just buy based on budget.
The best beginner mods you can do on an N/A 3800 are PCM, HV3 insert, downpipe and intake. A step up would be rockers and Powerlog and any cat-back work. Headers I don't recommend unless you get S&S brand with the smaller primaries.
Colder plugs on a stock car.
Very interesting concept.
