all i have done is READ READ READ every dang post that seems important so i dont ask dumb questions and get jumped on by everybody...
but i do have a question...
HP tuners are by far the most used tuner on here, need some input on what model to buy... ive never tuned a car, but i am pretty mechanically handy and definitely not stupid enough to start messin with **** and blow it up... wanna know which one is the best bang for your buck and the best for gtps?
i plan on going all out with mine, cam, headers, rockers, new tranny, northstar TB mod, 3.5?? maybe 3.4 pulley, and further down the road an intercooler, my ram air hood is on its way now, all i have is a HAI for the time being while i save up for the cam and headers... prolly going to upgrade fuel rails, injectors and plugs along the way...
ive done everything on the list of what to do when you first buy a gtp (i joined the forum 2 days after i bought it), and i just want to thank you guys biig time for all the write ups you have done, definitely pointed me in the right way and made my car get A LOT of its pep back in its step, and given me TONZ of wish lists.lol.

VCM suite is really all you need. The PRO can be better, but you dont need it really.

Invest in a Wideband 02 sesnor as well.

When I started tuning, I first read this engine managment advanced tuning book by Greg Banish. Its got alot of beginner info and just a some stuff on how everything works with each other. It's a pretty good book for the buy.

Are you talking about the Standard version or the Pro version?

You need pro if you plan on properly wideband tuning without modifying vehicle electronics (ie EGR connection swap)

LC-1, AEM, innovative. Them are good brands.

You gotta put it in the downpipe before the cat converter. So with headers, its simple to get a second bung welded in for the wideband sensor.

LC-1 is made by Innovate, silly.

But yeah, the UEGO or LC-1 are highly reccomended. LC-1 is $160 from StreetRays

And thanks for the input guys, i really am pretty new to all this, im 20 years old and im pissed my dad didnt work on cars lol, because now i have to learn everything myself for the most part and thats reeealy frustrating at times...
and ill definitely be buying a "tuning for dummies" (basically) book
i am less than an hour away from ZZP, but i want to do it myself, not have a generic tune to my car and just trust it, i want to KNOW.... everything unfortunately

I wouldn't buy a book other than the one by Greg Banish. Theres a ton of tuning sources online, as well as the HPTuners forum where you can find all the details you need for free.

Also the write up by TheOtherNick in the tuning section of this forum is a great starting point.

i have read through that thread by TheOtherNick and i get lost pretty quick, so i will more than likely buy the Greg Banish book and read up A LOT on the internet so i dont screw **** up.
biggest decision to be made soon, buy the cam and headers, or just buy the HP, "play" with it for a while, then buy the cam and headers...

I read and read before I got it and couldn't really understand what I read, but once I got my hands on it, It's fairly simple to use.

One piece of advice would be to e-mail them for the latest update when you get it. They make small changes to the software that make things easier.

I think they come with the "beta" already on it. But I'm not 100% sure.

When I bought mine a few months back, it was all updated and ready to roll.

That could be, unless you order from a vendor that has it sitting on a shelf for a while...

I bought mine used, so I can't confirm either way. I just know they released a new beta a few weeks ago that I don't have yet.
