OK, I have a 97 Pontiac Grand Prix. I want to get rid of the factory stuff and upgrade to a brand new sound system. I want to Crutchfield.com to see what speakers would fit my car and it ask me whether I have a 4 speaker or 8 speaker system. I am not sure but I believe its 8 speakers because in the front I have 2 door speakers and 2 tweeters. In the back I dont know what I have but when I look back there the speaker enclosures have 2 speakers, one oval and one round so thats a total of 4 speakers.

Can somebody tell me if thats a 8 speaker system and if so can you tell me what are the sizes of the factory speakers in my 97 Grand Prix. Thanks in advance!

Yes that is the "8 speaker" system, but it doesnt matter because the 6x9's are the same for the 6 speaker and the 8 speakers systems, the only thing that is different is the 4" speakers in the rear deck. Also if you get a aftermarket deck there is no adapter for the amp that runs the 6x9's in the rear so you will have to run a bypass for the rear speakers around the amp. The easiest way is to just tap into the wires going into the 4" speakers and disconnect the 4" speakers.
So just get some 5 1/4"s and some 6x9's for the rear with you new head unit and call it a day.
