question. can i swap a gtp engine and its stock pcm into my gt. or does the pcm have to match the car it came out of?
Short answer,
Sure.
pcm doesn't have to match but your trans has a 3.29 gear ratio as opposed to the 2.93 in the gtp so you'll need a tune.
im switching the trans to out of the gtp. the gtps not running im buying it from a guy the engine has 90k on it compared to my 140 k thats on my car now
swap engine and trans and pcm run a little wiring and your in business
I'm not positive but i think the map sensor is in a different location. I'm sure someone that knows will chime in.
ok thanks. i hope the man has the engine n trans by the time i get the money of not i dont see alot for sale
and this guys also selling a 3800 series 3 supercharged with the scp and tranny. i never herd of anyone swaping a seriese 3 taany and engine into a series 2 car.
If you match EVERYTHING up? heck probably not.
I'd inspect everything that goes into the GT from the GTP though..
Why is the GTP not running? Could you not have fixed that instead?
it needs to much body work. my gt is amost done for shows it just needs new paint and its done. and this guys parting the car out.
oh nah but if i can find a parts car that would be the next plan lol i cant find any used supercharged engines n trans n pcm for sale even on craigs list and ebay. just the engines thay sell. unless i can get the pcm and tranny seperate.
the guy says the trannys from a 04 gtp will that fit on a 2002 gtp engine? and will it fit in my 01? this is another guy who has rebuilt trannys and engines. all the years from 00 and 04 are the same arnt they?
How much are you giving for the engine and trans? Gen 5 sc are around $400 give or take so that right there is worth it if your getting it cheap enough.
the guy wants 1500 for the engine, around 350 for the tranny and the pcm ill buy seperate for 50$. but the other guy want 3 k for it all in his car, thats the guy whos parting his car out. the parts im looking at seperate are from a guy who just ells used parts and redoes them and cleans them up
Those prices are high for my area. Check car-part.com for parts. The trans should work. Also.. your vin won't match the pcm unless it's programmed. If you have emissions in your state..that's a big thing.
oh crap i thought the pcm would work if it mached the engine. how would i get it reprogramed?
It's easy..find someone that has a dhp and your vin can be changed. But a pcm for an 03+ isn't going to work in a 98-02 car.
