Hi guy new the the forum I have a 2002 grand prix 3800 and recently the low coolant light has been coming on. Recently I drove 200 miles and had to pull over twice to add coolant to the resivour. When I got back to town I took it to my mechanic and they ran all possible test to see if the radiator or hoses were leaking only to come up with nothing. Iv been doin some research online and I'm seeing that a possible lower intake gasket might be bad since gm uses these ****ty plastic gaskets prior to 06. If its not leaking anywhere in the radiator or hoses where is it all going? Any help would be nice

Upper intake manifolds that are plastic tend to break inside the EGR port area from heat cycling. The coolant passage is on the other side of that plastic. Then it fills the LIM with about 1/2 gallon of coolant or more and it starts burning it..
I drink..so consider that when reading my posts.

So ur saying that all the antifreeze iv been putting in it is going to the LIM and being burned. Shouldn't that show up in the oil as having a milky residue in it. Iv checked the oil and it's not low or anything and theres nothing wrong with it.

That's common with the 60 degree V6 family.

change your intake manifold gaskets and do it asap before its too late and you hydro lock your engine! you are burning the coolant! doesnt always show up in the oil! but get it done dont wait another week! this is so bad for your engine! dont do it your engine wont last you much longer!

I had the same problem with our 2000 but it lasted for 60,000 miles. some of it must have been working it's way into the oil system as the filler cap was the same color as the prestone and the oil filter was full of gunk every time I changed the oil. One day last year just for the heck of it, I bought one of those little $3.00 bottles of the dry silver stop leak and it stopped! The car still runs fine, no more gunk in the oil filter, 189,000 miles. I've had a number of nutty issues with this car, brake light that quit and start back up only after you activate the emergency blinkers, rusted out brake lines, HED problems and the famous, key that you can't get out of the ignition switch and this week a spraying oil pressure sensor that was solved by one of your fine members, Trannyman95 but these 3.8's are really strong.

Yeah my HIDs melted the stock fog light plug had to get a smaller amp ballest, my key has been getting stuck but I just use a screwdriver to unlock the ingnition thru that hole under the steering colum so it's not that bad kinda weird that the coolant is doing this with only 75000 on the car
