Get yourself some nice all seasons. Some people on here say you NEED winter tires in the winter, but some all seasons are pretty beefy like the michelin defenders I have. They do great in all winter weather for the most part. They slip a bit on slush but I think most tires would.
Lol well you don't need to get top of the line, just something name brand by a company well liked at least. Only reason I could afford it as a college student working part time is because I don't have very many other expenses lol.
good ****ing news!!!!!!!!! picking up a 01 gtp 2 door silver coupe next saturday going to put my engine and tranny in it. I will have my GTP after my horrible experience of being t-boned
Awesome man, will you be doing the work yourself?
interior on this gtp is AMAZING and it only has 70k on the body.
I'm prob gonna get some Falken's from discount tire as thats all I can afford. I last this winter without them with no crashing. Haha
my dad and I. Hes taught me basically everything I know about cars, he was a mechanic for 20 years plus. He recently had a heart attack though so I will most likeing be doing all the wrench turning. I've dropped 3.8s many times at junk yards though it's quite a breeze with these cars.
Well I wasn't saying it directly because of Falcons, any tire really. Falcons aren't the best but I'm not sure how they compare to average driving tires. They may be okay tires, read winter reviews, thats where tires usually lack the most.
The trans is good, but the engine didnt start and I honestly dont care but when I get it ill probably get it running. This being said I actually might be getting an impala body as well, so this engine could go in there. This all depends if I can get it running, it most likely is something stupid because the Pawn shop guy said it ran when he got it but its sat for a year. When I turned the key I listened for the fuel pump to kick on and sure enough it did. He showed me the new coil packs they had put on. So its probably something simple and if not i've changed basically everything on a grand prix so it would'nt be hard to figure it out.
Checked the dipstick as well to inspect for sludge etc and found none as well. So all signs point to it being something simple but then again I really just want the body. My dad and I have changed almost everything in the engine I currently have so I know what I have. Plus I treat my car with utmost care, so again im more comfortable with what I have.
Cranking and not starting right? With 70k and no sludge under the valve cover (looking through the oil fill) I'd take it and get it running. Your good engine and trans will be useful in another w-body you can find with an actual blown motor or trans.
I look forward to hearing more. I suppose since you have a built trans and and a modded engine(?) if you felt like it you could put your engine/trans in the GP and even if the previous powertrain is good use that in another car with less performance desired. That would take some time but to be honest I enjoy stuff like that.
