I'll know once I get to drive it more, it only did it a couple times. This was the one time I was thankful for needing something done that involved the tires being taken off, otherwise I wouldn't have noticed the grease the cv was slinging.

so one of my friends back pack blowers broke its mounts off the engine, he had it repaired under warranty. but the shop took the old engine apart to see the piston. seems these red max engines need to run 93 octane and if you use 87 the piston gums up and the rings stick to the piston causing piston slap, that you could hear.

he showed us the piston, the rings were stuck to the piston, the whole piston was black under the rings on the skirt. its now sitting on the shelf of shame at the shop parts counter. were theres pistons with dented tops and cracked skirts. he said another few week and the piston would have blown.

so today we sea foamed all 4 blowers, took the air filter off fogged it in the carb then flooded it out, waited fired it up it smoked but not a whole lot, so i pulled the plug out, and flooded the cylinder let it sit, fired it up and the smoke show was on lol.

then we pulled the muffler off one of the older blowers and the piston was nice and clean and the piston slap was gone, little engine was screaming like it was new, with some added power and throttle response.

this was the small engine and carb and tb cleaner sea foam in a spray can i used, sh it works great!

Took the car to run some errands. Standing behind it waiting for people to get out of their car so I can open my door...the dad walks over to me and looks at my car. Then asks, did you put that spoiler on there or did it come with it? Me, I put it on. Him, well it looks really nice on there, I like it. Made me feel good momentarily.

Now the car is parked out in the yard with the hood popped, hoping the engine bay cools down some so I can attempt front valve cover gasket replacement.
Its so cold out and I haz no garage....so it may not get done since I'm a whimp...time will tell.

Spent yet another day working on the Impala. Got the front valve cover gasket changed out and decided to tackle the crappy running problem so I replaced the two suspect wires with new not broken ones and yet the problem stayed.

Went and got the codes ran on it and got a P0141, P0304, and a P0332, so in english that means Heated O2 (Bank 1 sensor 2) heater circuit malfunction (I did unplug the sensor at one point so maybe it is just throwing the code because of that?), Cylinder 4 misfire, and Knock sensor circuit.

Only one I'm really worried about is the knock sensor because I here they are a pain to change, any insight on that? I'm going to make sure to check wiring first.

New struts\top mounts for the front yesterday, fixed an ongoing problem with my HVAC, pulled the wiper valance and cleaned everything under it, cleaned the trunk\surroundings, and put a new sub amp in. Productive day, to say the least.

Wow you people have been busy, lots of maintenance on this forum today. I just pulled it in the driveway for the night..lol. I've posted tons of stuff all summer, I was busy with it. Not a whole lot more to do though.

Our impala does need a few things though. Right now there's a bad noise that goes along with speed. The sound is coming from the rear of the car. I say it's a wheel bearing, my dad says it's a defective tire causing noise. I'll get a video sample.

The noise is directly relative to the speed of the car. It follows all the way down to 5 mph, and is still very noticeable at 5mph. I had the recorder right at the bottom of the door panel so it isn't actually this loud when siting in the car. But you cant miss it. I may even say you might have to turn the radio up a few clicks because of it.

Found a broken wire by the air box in the Impala and was hoping it might just be a knock sensor wire, sadly it was not. However on the bright side the abs and service traction lights turned off lol

Put the heads, LIM, Gen V, all the wiring, vacuum lines, battery, fuel rail and the exhaust back on.

Got everything working like it should, save for a broken band clamp so theres a big exhaust leak where the front header meets the crossover.

Replaced the front valve cover.....3 hours, a bolt snafoo and some profanities later, the car started! No noticeable leaks, I need to de-grease again so I have a fresh slate to work with.
Dan was a life saver during the process...so thanks Dan!!!

I can officially say that I have no desire to ever do a VC again, let alone the rear one. I did enough sitting on top of the motor just doing the front one.

How would they slip off...is that a problem you've seen before?

they don't slip all the way off but enough to start causing a. Leak. I'm thinking it was when I had the flex installed they shortened the pipe to much.
