Swapped out a new headlight that was already showing condenstation inside; drove to Department of Labor to find out my part time job pay me too much to claim unemployment right now.
Hit 163k as I pulled into the gas station.
Drove to the bank to cash paychecks, when I got back I checked the wheel area to make sure there are no transmission leaks after I had it apart, and there's green grease everywhere...The CV boot is ripped. I really don't want to buy new cv's, they're working just fine and they just ripped, so no sand of water has gotten in them yet, so I just bought a kit with 2 boots and new grease.
$17.11 for 1 cv axle (two boots, 4 clamps, 2 grease packets) and $9.58 shipping so $26.69. That's from rockauto. I couldn't find it anywhere else for a better price, so I had to pay rockauto's shipping.
Once you are done cussing at the axle and all the work you are going to have to put into repair you are going to wish you had just bought a new axle in the first place.
They make a piece for the caravan for $25 makes it nice
Yeah it would be nice, I've been hearing about people having problems with many aftermarket axles though. I'm now jobless so I'd like to save some money where I can, and if I can get the new boot on and it lasts the rest of the time I own the car, I'll be happy. Plus not having a job, I have plenty of free time, so if I have to spend more time than most would, I don't mind.
Warranted? It's an oem axle, I'd have to spend $50 is I was going to get a new axle.
Intalled a hud out of an 02 gpgt into my 97 monte
gave it its yearly wash compound and wax with a PC.
Looks good Scotty. Love your regal.
