Drove six hours to my house in TX from Louisiana, got smoked by a civic si, I need more go fast mods.
Changed the plugs and plug wires in my Dad's Grand Am GT.
The back three were such a pain in the ass. Especially #1
And I think it needed a little more . .

one of these days you should do a photo shoot of your car!
the paint skills are pretty good I must say...
i admire his work, not particularly his taste, but the effort he puts into the attention to detail..is sometimes hard to find on here
Finally flushed out the dex cool and used Prestone Extended life universal. Also threw in a 180° thermostat for the summertime.
Looks like kool-aid. Dex-coolaid, yum.
how tough was it to flush it out/what did you flush it out with?
I flush it with a garden hose. Flushing, and back flushing the radiator, engine and heater core separately to get every drop of dex-cool out. Couldn't get the radiator drain plug out so I just took off both rad hoses and flushed there. Hardest part was getting the thermostat bolts off. It took a propane torch heating it up 4 different times before it broke loose. I had to be careful not to snap the bolt off in the engine, so that's why it took a while. Patience means not having to drill it out and re-tap threads.
One thing I learned is to put the heat on full blast before starting. I did that on the impala with the 3.8 and the heater core flushed with the engine. On mine I had the hvac controls all the way cold and when I flushed the heater core (which came last) it still had pure dex-cool in it somehow.
Prestone Coolant $12.24 x2
$12.24
Stant Superstat $7.99
Thermostat Gasket $3.49
Subtotal $35.96
Tax $2.16
Total $38.12
Not bad for a full in depth flush and a fun few hours.
